Obituary of Nelia Gabasa Jaspe

Neila Gabasa Jaspe, 67, loving mother and devoted wife to Ricardo, passed away on the 25th of April after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Nelia was born on July 19, 1955, in Guimares Philippines to Elpidio and Felipa. Nelia was influenced by her family to be hardworking and supportive with her siblings. She worked hard to send them to college, sacrificing her dream to finish school. 

In 1984, she met her husband, Ricardo in Iloilo. They shared a love for family and decided to start their own. They have been married for 37 years and are blessed with three lovely daughters, Ren, Lyn and Richelle. As a mother, she was strict, loving and protective of her three girls. She was a full time homemaker and took good care of all of her daughters' needs. Her daughters were her greatest treasures, and them becoming nurses had been her pride and joy. 

In 2015, Neila migrated to the United States to be with family. She loved shopping with Richelle, watching Lyn cook and bake and singing Karaoke with Ren. Nelia loved meeting and entertaining people at their home. She also looked forward to going on vacation in the Philippines. She believed that having a supportive and close-knit family is the key to a happy life.

She will be greatly missed by her daughters, her personal nurses, Ren, Lyn and Richelle who were by her side during all of her heart treatments, hospitalizations and during her last moments at home. Nelia was their light, their anchor, their hero, their mama whom they adored with all of their hearts. 

Mama, we know that we can't have you, but we're happy knowing that the Angels have finally got you back. 

Goodbye to a wonderful sister, amazing wife and loving mother. 

Nelia was pre-deceased by her parents Elpidio and Felipa; her siblings, Nelson, Wilson and Gerson. She will be forever remembered by her other siblings, Dahlia, Wilme and Richelle.
