Mike - your birthday and Father's day was on the 21st of June. Steve's birthday is today. You are both thought of often. I know that Ruthe and Lori miss you so much. We are all so saddened by your sudden passing. The only peace we have is that you are with Steve and family who have already passed before you. Please watch over Ruthe and Lori. Rest in peace . . .
Love, Sallie

Uncle Mike, unfortunately we did not get a chance to get to know each other as adults and I am saddened by the number of laughs and conversations we’ll never get to have. But in the past several months, I’ve had the joy of hearing stories and memories of you from my mother and knowing just how much you were loved. Banksy has a saying that may be relevant and hopefully somewhat comforting in all of this: You die twice. Once when you stop breathing, and afterwards when someone says your name for the last time. Your impact on this family was unfathomable and profound, such that I know your name will be spoken for a very, very long time. And so long as that is done, you are still here with us.

I was just thinking about the last time I saw you, a few years back, at Denny's with the family. I was bummed that Aunt Ruth couldn't be there, but am thankful to hear old stories and hear you and my other aunt and uncles tell stories about growing up. I always loved coming to visit in Puyallup growing up too. Rest easy up there. We all miss you.

Michael
It's hard to believe you are gone. Your departure has brought so many memories and overwhelming feelings for me.
In our lifetime together I followed you around when I was little to get to spend time with my oldest brother. I would promise to not touch anything so you would let me hang out and listen to music with one of the "big kids". I watched you marry dear Ruthe and start a family. I witnessed you be an amazing father and raise two wonderful children. As a teen you helped me with advice and an occasional car issue when you were home from your travels with the Air Force. And even at our ripe old age you would tease me about my age (even though you had 9 years on me!!) but were always ready to answer questions, offer advice and promise to help me navigate the world of retirement and Medicare when the time came.
You were the caretaker of the family living up to the oldest brother's role and took you duties seriously. You took care of us all so well.
I will miss not being able to call you for a chat or advice. I will miss being teased by you. I will miss your quirky sense of humor. You will always be my big brother and I will always love and look up to you. You will live on in my heart forever and I may still turn to you in times of need.
It's time to rest now and enjoy being in the heavenly kingdom. You did a good job and left us with the tools to carry on. I will miss you more than words can say but you must be needed somewhere else now. Be at peace. I know you are with Steve and Dad now. I will join you someday.
Forever in my heart and thoughts.
Your youngest sister,
Carol

To my dear and loving sister Ruthe and niece, Lori, I am saddened and heartbroken over the loss of Mike. He truly was a genuinely nice and kind person. Always there to help without being asked. I always thought of him as not just as a brother-in-law, but as an additional brother and friend. When our mother passed away in 2001, Mike was there to provide emotional support to us all. In fact, he had given me a guardian angel pocket piece that I could carry with me and I still have that and carry it with me daily. Mike will be truly missed.
To Mike, you and Steve are together . . . rest in peace Mike and Steve. You will be missed and thought of often.
Love, Sallie and Steve
